Smoke & Mirrors x Dealersgrip Playing Cards (Mirror / Solidified Beam)

Two influential names in modern cardistry come together for Smoke & Mirrors x Dealersgrip, a striking reinterpretation of Dan & Dave’s celebrated Smoke & Mirrors series.

The collaboration was designed by Dealersgrip, the cardistry brand founded by Swedish cardist Oliver Sogard. Dan & Dave first met Oliver during a European tour in 2010, beginning a friendship that would eventually develop into this distinctive collaborative deck.

Rather than simply applying Dealersgrip branding to the established Smoke & Mirrors aesthetic, Oliver takes the name itself as inspiration. Under the alternative title “Theatrical Cloud / Solidified Beam”, the familiar idea of smoke and mirrors is pushed into a much more experimental visual direction.

Sharp geometric forms slice through layered imagery, combining abstract photography, AI-generated elements and graphic typography. The result deliberately contrasts the intangible with the physical – the “cloud” and the “beam” – while retaining enough of the Smoke & Mirrors identity to connect it with the wider series.

The cards are printed by the United States Playing Card Company on Dan & Dave’s proprietary thin stock developed specifically for cardistry.

Presentation is equally unconventional. A minimalist matte black tuck features a large die-cut window, allowing the artwork beneath to become part of the packaging itself.
