Seafarers Playing Cards (Submariner Edition)

Seafarers: Submariner Edition is the darker, mood-driven counterpart within the celebrated nautical series, designed in collaboration with artist Gustavo Magalhaes. Fully illustrated by hand, this edition embraces a deeper ocean aesthetic while retaining the timeless structure that defines Seafarers.

Where the original leaned into sea-green heritage tones, Submariner moves below the surface. The inky navy tuck, stamped with crisp white detailing, gives the deck a restrained, storm-at-sea presence, subtle, confident and deliberately understated.

The back design is rich with maritime symbolism: crossed blades, skull motifs, ropework and oceanic elements radiate outward in intricate linework. It’s classic in composition, yet unmistakably modern in execution.

At the centre of the deck sits its defining mark — the Ace of Spades. Bold and unmistakable, it anchors the identity of the series while balancing traditional playing card structure with Joker and the Thief’s signature illustration style.

Every court card is completely custom and illustrated from scratch. The artwork flows beyond traditional borders, allowing each figure to command the full space of the card. Themes from the back design bleed into the courts, creating cohesive, story-driven characters across all four suits:

• Hearts – Entangled in octopus tentacles, foreshadowing the ocean’s quiet grip.
• Clubs – Shadowed by vipers, representing threat and inner duality.
• Diamonds – Navigators of the unseen, featuring skull motifs and symbolic guidance.
• Spades – Hardened sailors, bound in rope and forged by the sea.

The tuck box is fully custom, printed on premium imported dyed paper with deep black ink and interior printing, adding a refined tactile experience to match the deck’s atmosphere.
