NoMad Playing Cards

Created in collaboration with New York City’s celebrated NoMad Hotel, the NoMad Playing Cards by theory11 capture the atmosphere of one of Manhattan’s most distinctive luxury hotels in an exceptionally detailed deck.

Designed by Chad Michael, the artwork draws directly from the hotel’s architecture and identity. Ornate detailing, distressed card faces and a sophisticated black and gold palette give the deck the appearance of a treasured set from another era. Look closer and the references continue: the back design forms the suggestion of an eye when viewed laterally, complementing the Latin inscription translating to “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

The tuck case is particularly impressive, combining black and gold foil with intricate embossing, a custom NoMad interior pattern and a seal inspired by the State of New York. Even the hotel’s signature “Made Nice” phrase finds its way into the design.
