Eames “Starburst” Playing Cards

Eames “Starburst” Playing Cards are a considered tribute to the enduring design philosophy of Charles and Ray Eames, created by Art of Play in close collaboration with The Eames Office.

This first edition features the iconic Eames Office Starburst logo on the card backs, a recurring motif in the Eameses’ body of work. The symbol represents creative energy radiating outward, reflecting their belief that design should expand possibilities rather than constrain them.

The face cards continue that philosophy. A unique numbering system subtly references Powers of Ten, one of the Eameses’ most celebrated films, allowing card spreads and fans to echo the visual language of scale and structure explored in their work. The court cards draw inspiration from elemental geometric forms, a nod to the Eames commitment to mathematics, proportion and functional beauty.

The tuck case is letterpress-printed on sustainable paper using vegetable-based dyes. Its layout references the famous Eames House, the creative space where Charles and Ray lived and worked, blending architectural influence with graphic precision.
